After the interview I got a fair idea about my family and family traditions. The first thing which I came to know was that there were no naming traditions as such in our family. The names given to the members of the family were completely independent of the family name and were more of parent’s choice. My grandfather told me that in our family there was a tradition of 1 week long holiday every year only with the family members. This was the tradition which was designed mainly by ancestors to make sure that all the family members could share happenings of their life with each other, so that they could help each other at the time of need. Festivals were something which kept on changing in our family (Sims &Stephens, 2005). This means that our family celebrated all the old as well as the new added festivals. For example our traditional festival was Thanksgiving but after the marriage of one of my cousin, we started to celebrate Easter too. After interviewing my family members I came to know that they continued to follow the old traditions along with the addition of new ones. My family always kept a welcoming attitude for all the new festivals and cultures, but they also believed in following their own traditional cultures and festivals. They taught all their kids to be friendly and social to all the other members who they come across.
