Mintzberg framework has been used to analyze the company framework. Strategic apex, operating core, middle line, techno structure and support staff are the five elements of the Mintzberg model. In the strategic apex who were involved in designing of the overall mission and value of the company. The menus were prepared by the management after careful analysis of the customer tastes. We had little say in this process. The operating core of the company was involved in the development of cost effective and recently a healthier option of food. Techno structure is based on output and quality requirements. This was the core system in which the organization was run. The support staff are usually involved in providing the materials to make the specified menu. They do not really contribute to the core purpose of the company.
Mintzberg divides companies into five generic group. This company can be described or rather fit into the adhocracy model where it is project based. This is based on the innovation or the changing market dynamics. This is seen in the recent shift of the company towards developing healthier option.
The company has managed to remain effective. The company should face the rising competition from other fast food joints.
To conclude, when I worked in McDonalds, we were able to deliver the services that was expected and the food produced were uniform. I felt that the company was a market oriented company that falls under the adhocracy model of the Mintzberg framework. The Company needs to shift the focus towards healthier options for the people. From this experience and analysis, I was able to experience the impact of this particular organizational culture.
