Glass ceiling is a designated name for the organisational practices which includes intentional discrimination for women for specific roles and promotions. It has grown so subtle that it remains very much active despite its open rejection. Women have been a part of the work force since the 1960s. They have contributed equally even more in many cases, but they are still kept from acquiring their rightful place. Forms of glass ceiling that existed earlier were legal because traditional values opposed immediate conversion of a stay-at-home woman to be a full time worker. Discrimination was allowed openly in a patriarchal society, but it took different forms after the open despising. The second generation gender bias refers to an innovative way of discriminating women at work which has grown extensively and has made its influence on the persistence of glass ceiling. Although the awareness of the abortion of glass ceiling has grown beyond reach across the globe, the concept of glass ceiling itself has become a more camouflaged concept so that it can stay silently and act as per the patriarchal rules of social structures.
