This essay will be discussing about the story of Victor Hemandez Cruz and how she struggled to survive in United States. The story of the girl revolves around aspect like skin color that becomes major reason for racism in the country. United States is one of the most diverse countries welcoming individuals from all over the world. The country is showing tremendous amount of development during these years but all the glitter is not gold. The girl was born in Puerto Rico and had a clear complexion in her region. When she was in Puerto she was called fair colored girl with pretty looks and was always admired by her fellow members of the society. People often say that color is the element used for seducing and attracting other individuals. But this element fails when people consider black and brown people low class and degrade them because of their color. When Victor moved to United States she crushed her confidence as more and more people criticized her and degraded her because of her color and background. She was never happy in high school and always wanted to be liked by boys of her age. Face is only the cover but the real beauty is behind the face in the form of brain and good heart. This philosophy is not accepted in real world and elements like appearance, color and size become a prominent factor for judging the overall personality of the person.
