Ideally, it is not required of the sender to have information regarding IP multicast receivers since the transport is sans connection with the application of UDP datagrams along with IP multicast address. This type of transport is suitable for different streaming applications (Wing, 2010). There are instances when the reliability of multicast transport needs to be high in scenarios of multicast web application, database replication or in cache. As normal TCP is a one on one protocol, it is not a feasible option. A transport connection of multicast nature involves numerous receivers. It is required of the reliable type transport protocol to handle situations where the numerous receivers have different packets that may arrive in difference sequence thus enabling the receivers to have an undisturbed flow of information. In multicast address allocation, the routers initiate communication with the surrounding multicast routers for exchanging information pertaining network topology and group membership (Yang, 2012). MBone refers to the interconnected IP multicast networks that has been constructed by means of tunnels across such networks that do not provide support to multicast outing (Do and Chakka, 2010). However, as it has advanced, with the increase in frequency, there has been an increase in the problems such as manageability and scalability. As the MBone as grown in terms of size, it has been required of the multicast arena to deploy inter domain hierarchical routing.
