According to Kawar (2012), it was observed that the researcher has aimed at analysing the cross-cultural differences that prevail within the management. Moreover, to enhance the leadership skills, an international manager must focus on maintaining a sense of unbiased nature so that it can provide him with the opportunity to work with people from different culture and background. According to Prewitt, Weil and McClure (2011), it was seen that these researchers have focused on analysing how leadership can be developed in multi-cultural and global organizations. The competencies and capabilities that should be present within an international manager to effectively lead employees have been discussed in this article. The researchers have stressed on developing models of leadership that should be implemented by leaders with the aim to enhance their leadership skills and qualities (Prewitt, Weil and McClure, 2011).
The main role of an international manager is to operate and control the overseas operations of a multinational company. In this regards, I believe that international managers must possess the ability to develop global thinking in delivering goods and services to the rest of the world. Based on my self-assessment, I possess some soft skills which would prove to be useful for me as an international manager such as to work in international teams, to adapt to new situations, to be sensitive to different cultures and to develop relationships. I have experienced a unique situation in which I was to work with a multicultural team on a common project of product development. The major problem that I faced was a language barrier as most of my views and opinions could not be conveyed to my fellow colleague and a team mate who hailed from China.
