I used to attend activities to do selling simulation training at Citibank (Tianjin 2016). These simulated sales training made me gain more interest in learning actuarial and financial matters. In simulated training, I worked as market analyst. My post discussed about the ways to help members. Besides, my group did mock-ups to do market risk assessments and buy insurance. I am estimating that this would aid in some type of financial crisis to ensure that my group simulated the company’s earnings from the crisis, and it can make sure that we maximize the benefits. Our company was about the cultivation of agricultural products. When I was doing market analysis, I found that the biggest risk in the past five years was weather uncertainty. It was imperative to have contingency plan in place. If not effectively controlled, the company will have suffered serious losses or even become bankrupt. From this exercise, I chose weather insurance among much insurance. One of the things I find interesting is that weather index hedging can add security to the projects we work in and increase the company’s ability to resist uncertainties.
