Although the excellence theory evens the space, it does not really create an ideal space. A government campaigner or an organization campaign can serve to improve the form of communication and power relations, but dialogues which are more of casual exchanges might never be achieved (Grunig, 2006). However, in spite of not achieving a dialogic space, even the two-way communication space as posited by Excellence theory is an achievement in itself as it is a far step away from one-way communication with power being held by the campaigner more than the public (Grunig, 2006; 2008). Strategic implications in the context of application of the excellence theory results in coalition building, strategy development, message design development, more availability of choices, program execution and evaluation (Smudde & Courtright, 2010). In coalition building, the negative effects of power imbalances in PR can be corrected effectively. When power imbalances are corrected, then the people will be in a more receptive state to receive what information is communicated to them. While Grunig’s excellence theory is not the ideal state, it is a way to progress, and I agree with the writer who stated this, “Some have suggested that Grunig is too idealistic in his theory of two-way symmetrical communication, with some arguing that it simply is not realistic in the practical setting. I have to disagree with these arguments and say that Grunig’s theory challenges PR professionals in the field to implement components of his theory in a world where most people view the work of PR professionals as simply securing media coverage as a main task and goal” (Word press, 2013, para. 19).
