The management theory evolution since the past century is the historic period of constantly evolving leadership role in organizations. Since the 20th century, the ever evolving role of organizations has been evident. The theory of organizations has changed to a large extent. When viewing the organization theory and its perspective itself, there are 3 perspectives existing inclusive of the modernist perspective, the perspective with symbolic-interpretive and the post-modernist perspective (Wooten and Hoffman, 2016). Each perspective has offered a distinct approach when it comes to organization management. With evolution, each perspective has gained much enlightenment and the traditional perspectives have been left behind.

The organizational leaders have also evolved from traditional ownership to forming relationship between owners and managers. In the 20th century, the leaders had less immanent influence over the organization and its employees but now, in the 21st century, this has changed and the influence of individual’s leaders over companies has become essential progressively(Zhang, 2015). Early organizations could depend over managers for their authority but in the current era of globalization, managers in conjunction to other employees have a key role to play. Collaboration in the post-modern organizations plays another prominent role.
