The author addresses the research gaps in the form of prior research works such as how managing team performance seem to forget the team work aspects of it. This current research gave team operations adequate importance, but team work itself was the focal point of analysis in the work more than the other surrounding factors. The authors make use of the case scenario method. They make use of studies from the Naval Gunfire-Support Team, the Antisubmarine Warfare Team, the Guided Missile Team. The measurements were done using individual performances, the team leader performance, trainee self-report questionnaire and a team demographics form. The research work presents team performance measurement by focusing specifically on teamwork itself and this brings into discussion much of the teamwork aspects such as team behaviour, collaborations, leadership in team work etc. This puts into perspective, the necessity to revamp teamwork dynamics for success. Future research recommendations are made for understanding team work in tactical team operations and general.

In a future work situation, this research teaches me how to focus on different team working behaviours for successful team working. I believe team working could be a significant challenge for me. The success of team working relies on many factors that can be defined even outside workplace settings, such as personality of the members of the team, their background, culture, their ethical reasoning’s, interests and more. Therefore, even when people are connected in a team because of mutual objectives and goals etc., it could so happen that they have to factor in other external elements for success in team work. This could be a challenge to me, as teamwork is something that one can build through practice only and I consider myself as lacking in practice here. Secondly, this could be challenging because of how real time understanding of team partners and a theoretical education is much different. I believe I need more real life experience in teamwork.
