In this review of literature, nuances of the social media and advent of journalism are discussed. The number of benefits and limitations to this development has been critically reviewed. These have been probed along with the audience segmentation of the results. This is done in the subsequent sections in the following. The publishing used to denote the print publication in the past decade. That had changed to online websites in the latter part of 1990s. However, after the advent of social media technology, this has been completely revolutionized in the society.
The social media has in fact changed the ways in which the people communicate with one another. It is found that the people are interacting based on the trends in the social media. This development of technology is interesting and it is unchartered territory (Broersma and Graham, 2016). This development and extent of the potential of the social media in the current times are not really known completely. The people must evaluate it properly in order to ensure that they make appropriate choices in deciphering the content and the issues. The publishing intent to produce and broadcast information is varying on the different kinds of online portals that stem from the social media platforms.
Mass media such as television networks were once the main creators and produces of the content. This has changed dramatically in the current times. The media actors are very much aware of the current trends in the social media platforms (Nölleke, Grimmer and Horky, 2016). The political actors have eluded that in the recent times the content management and portrayal of the events have changed. The way in which the news is presented to the people has changed. The people are found to simply scroll through the news feeds. For the average person to click on particular news information, the news must be interesting and have a mystery element attached to it. This enigma would make the people try to read the content. They would then develop appropriate recommendation based on these developments.
