Diffusion can be defined as the interchange of a culture from its origin and its spread and mixing into a different social structure and belonging. The study therefore looks specifically into the diffusion a cultural belonging into the society and its interaction with other cultural beliefs. So, though the process of diffusion, anthropologists study if there is a pattern of interchange of social culture and spread in society of a particular cultural center. Diffusion also studies the cultural traits and patterns that have been imbibed by a culture from its larger social beliefs and structure.
Trouillot (1991) defines Diffusion as the spread of a culture from its origins to other societies and cultural belongings. The theory is also based on a crucial assumption. It is believed by many scholars, researchers and experts that all cultures have an origin and subsequently spread across the society.
