In the Prince Machiavelli provided the circumstances for the different republicans. What is clearly depicted in the Discourses is the political stability and how to maintain it. Machiavelli stated the importance of constant need of a good prince and a political system that can attain stability through providing virtue and safety. Discourses are completely dedicated to maintain the politicalstability in republican empire and how collective government can acquire stability. Machiavelli has introduced the elements of diplomacy and interstate relations with regards to explanation of Roman Empire and its virtuous approach towards politics (Mansfield & Tarcov, 1996). The Discourses on Livy approaches towards the political virtue and expansion and preservation of the state that is already in shape. Thus the aim of the paper is accomplished in the way and it would be right to say that “The Prince is usually thought to be a book about founding regime, and the discourse a book about maintaining them” as the prince provides rules for the prince who could all the power and could be liberal and loyal to the state and people.
While discourses represent the practical application of the rules in terms of Roman Empire and its expansion, Machiavelli has completely rejected the interference of the Religion and religious institutions in the political approach. He had even informed that the ruler, who wants to gain power and want to maintain it, should be able to use his skills and qualities in a correct manner. He informed about the position of Church in politics. His philosophical approach towards the liberty and well being of all, has given him an important place in the history of politics.
