There cannot be inaction because a nation fears doing something wrong. The situation in Syria is such that some form of action if necessary. Also it is not just the United States but the United Kingdom and Canada who have also gotten involved in the intervention for Syria. A carefully planned venture here will prevent continued killing of people. On the other hand vetoing against an intervention would only lead to more killings. The second most significant reasoning that has been given for negating the military intervention is that of the support that is available for this intervention. Within Syria, it is noted that there would not be much support for the European and United States intervention. When staging an intervention to rescue civilian people that live in that nation the support of the people in that nation is necessary. This support is necessary for many reasons. The support will ensure that there is no civilian casualty which could be achieved by working with the civilian groups (Regan, 1996). Secondly the support will ensure that there is peace after the intervention is staged. In many situations it has been noticed that after a civil war or something there is no proper political system that leaves the state much weakened and vulnerable. This could lead the state to further problems and this is one reason that is stated for opposing interventions. However even in this context it is seen that Syrians for long has been engaged in democratic struggles, these democratic struggles have led Syrian into rivalry with different groups before. Parallel to the atrocities that are being committed by the Assad troop, it is noticed that there have been rival militias that have been working alongside these issues. Some of them are the Hezbollah and Iranian military troops and these armies only wait for an opportunity to fight western militia. So in the context of a western intervention the westerners would probably be opposed by all of the fighters. However the thing to be considered here is that the people in Syria themselves want democracy for their nation and hence with the right incentive could be supported.
