The challenges to entrepreneurial imagination and their collective impact on innovations are many and hence it would not be feasible for this research to identify every factor and impact. Instead, this research hopes to achieve a categorization of the challenges in the form of themes. Challenges to entrepreneurial imagination as a collective effect on innovations could be because of individual level challenges such as the personality of the entrepreneur, the leadership style and more. Challenges can also exist in the form of the business infrastructural capabilities, the financial state of the company to allow for translation of entrepreneurial imagination into a successful innovation and more.

In the field of financial management, an understanding of imagination in the role of the business for which the financial management is carried out becomes necessary. As researchers note, “Imagination’ is absent from the economics-based rational choice approach which assumes substantial (usually full and perfect) knowledge of present and future conditions. While useful for some purposes (for example as a benchmark against which to compare reality and for comparative static analysis), this approach is challenged in terms of its ability to analyze conditions characterized by limited or bounded, procedural rationality and learning” (Jones, & Pitelis, 2015, p.14).
