Role of Dorsey’s family, his socio-cultural background in the development
Dorsey was raised as a catholic child and had all the beliefs of a catholic religion. He was quite an introvert and was encouraged by his parents to learn whatever he wanted in his life. He was a drop out from the Missouri University of Science and Technology for a brief period, similar to many entrepreneurs who also dropped out of college and found their companies. Dorsey’s father worked for a manufacturing company which required him to move from one city to another and made Dorsey develop a fascination with maps of cities (Bilton, 2014). The family was well set but a middle class one, and the lifestyle was more normal and grounded. The family was successful in its socio-cultural standing as it was respected among the peers, the family and friends of Dorsey’s father.
The simple background and sound value system gave Dorsey a chance to explore more than what was available. With a lot of moving, he developed a good thirst for knowledge and how real time communication is required by many retailer, taxi drivers, and fleets of vehicles, which led him to the eagerness of developing something for their utility.
