The primary research article that was studied for the purpose of understanding communication and aging was Piper & Allen’s (2013) research study titled “Supporting medical communication for older patients with a shared touch-screen computer”. The study is a primary research study and the study attempts to answer the question of what form of communication technologies would be convenient for the aged people who are in hospital facilities. Health care facilities have always attempted to increase the level of convenience for their patients so that the older adults are able to have a convenient way to update and also view their medical information. This would enhance communication between the aged patients and the medical system.

The authors in this studying of the enhancement of communication focus on three specific highlights. Firstly, they examine the usability and appeal of multiuser touch-screen when presenting medical information to the patients. Their convenience in understanding such information, and the advantages of using such an easy touch system are analyzed and assessed for. Secondly, authors attempt to show that older adult adaptation to such systems are better than what the existing research studies state. Most research studies show that older adults might have a problem when transitioning to newer technologies (Williams et al, 2016). In this study it was established that it needs not always be the case. Older adults also felt that the transition to easier ways of information sharing enhances their communication with their medical care providers. They welcomed the approach that was suggested by the authors.
