Personality Psychology
The Big Five personality traits are often used to describe human behaviour in broad terms. The five traits are openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and agreeableness. Openness to experience is a trait which displays its curiosity to know more and learn more, especially intellectual curiosity, likes variety of things and creative qualities, and always tends to have passion for arts, adventure, and unusual ideas. Extraversion is a trait which focuses on positive emotions, has a lot of energy, likes to interact with people and socially active and seeks companionship with others. Conscientiousness is a more disciplined trait which is focussed on living a planned life disliking anything which is not unplanned and sudden, likes to work for accomplishing something, likes to perform ones duty, and is always organized (Digman, 1989; Smith, 1968). Emotional stability is a trait which is able to accept and experience emotions of anger, hatred, and depression with ease and has the capacity to control impulses and its prompts to act. Agreeableness is a trait which is focussed on being friendly and agrees easily and more often than rejecting with others, and also on cooperating with others with compassion (McGuire et.al, 1976).
