Another thing which may differentiate the two is that the self-portraits are generally presented as art which the online selfie are generally publicized as portraits. Also, online selfie is something which may be published only online while the sel-portrait is generally available in places such as museums and galleries. A yet another difference between them is that the online selfies are generally born from the generally photography practices which are done by the people in the day to day world in the present times while the self-portrait is generally designed by an artist.
In general selfie does not require any kind of documents such as snippets or speeches. It can be said that the online selfie helps in the promotion of the active discussions or the responses which may either be instantaneous. This is because the fact that the online selfie is available for the people as soon as they are clicked. Self-portrait on the other hand undergoes several discussions related before getting published for the people (Ridgway, et al, 2016). Thus, it can be said that the selfie is not instantly available. Another difference between the online selfie and the self-portrait is that if a self-portrait is seen by the strangers, the host or the person whose self-portrait is created doesn’t feels uncomfortable but in case of a selfie which is published online, it is generally expected that it is visible to only the friends. Many times, the person whose selfie is clicked and published online may feel uncomfortable if the same is seen by the strangers.
Both online selfie and self-portraits are common in many terms but they also have few differences. While selfie is more based on technology, self-portrait is more reliant on art. In this research paper the discussion has been conducted between the characteristics of self-photography created by artists and there has been a significant understanding of their social background in which they have been made. Further, the study has been done on the characteristics of the selfie-which has been created by the internet users and the expressions which are portrayed through them. The differences and common points between an online selfie and a self-portrait has been widely discussed and understood. Thus, it can be concluded that online-selfie and self-portrait are different mode of conversation which depicts any person, but they have differences between them.
