Recognition: It is possible for motivation to work by offering recognition to the employees and there is no doubt that it works. It provides any organization with various advantages. Some are such benefits which do not have a measure over a scale of tangible nature. Recognition can become a super powerful technique that allows in fostering a team environment of close knit nature. It also helps in encouraging employees to achieve a higher productivity level. This also has been evident in the thought process of the participant who stated that “I have worked with a lot of workplaces but all these workplaces lacked the culture to appreciate their employees and recognize them. This made me quiet de-motivated”.
Extrinsic rewards preference: Nowadays the norms of what motivates the employees have changed. Intrinsic rewards were very popularly used some decades back but now employers have started recognizing the needs to incorporate extrinsic rewards in the workplace. These rewards have a preference to offering external forms of rewards such as making them recognized, offering them a higher promotional position or even praising. This form of motivation comes from external environment of a person in opposition to the intrinsic forms of motivation that comes from internal to an individual.
