The next phase in the hero’s journey is ‘Rescue from without’. In real life even when one has all the answers for something, they still get stuck in a problem. When people get stuck they need someone to motivate them to think beyond the problem. This could be the social network of the person or someone close to the person like a parent or a guardian. This phase is where the hero needs guidance or some form of assistance to bring them back. The person needs to be brought back from supernatural life to ground reality. In the case of Aladdin this is a rude shock as his lamp gets stolen and once again he is nothing but a common street thief. However, in the next phase, which is the crossing of the return threshold, the person makes use of the knowledge gained. This knowledge helps them deal with the real-world problem. In doing so the hero shares the secret of his experience or simply inspires the real world with their heroic antics.

Some people might accept that they can only remain in one world and might end up belonging to one world only, and only a few become masters of both worlds. This is the psyche of an individual that through multiple exposures has self-developed. The individual has reached a sense of understanding when it comes to hope, worldly activities, fear and more and hence is in complete attachment to their own personal limitations. The person is in complete realization of the truth and hence is able to understand implications of what he has understood in real life. Consider this situation for Aladdin as presented in the movie. He is in a situation in his life where he has been exposed to the genie of the lamp and knows about how this magic works. Using the understanding he gains, he tricks Jaffar into turning himself into a mighty genie and then bottles him up.
